Cotgrave Welfare Diamond Angling Club was formed in 2003 after the closure of Cotgrave Colliery.
Cotgrave Welfare Diamond Angling Club was formed in 2003 after the closure of Cotgrave Colliery.
Nottinghamshire County Council decided to develop part of the colliery site into a country park including a lake.
Four past and present members contacted the council to ask about using the lake for fishing. The council agreed and leased them the lake and the fishing club was born.
One of the first jobs for the newly formed fishing club was to stock the lake with a variety of fish. The club continues to stock the lake on an annual basis.
Regular Saturday and Sunday club matches are held throughout the year on the lake all are well attended resulting in good weights for the anglers.
